Changing the Default Font and Size

We have had many requests to allow the user to change the programs default window font and/or font size.  All of our programs are designed for 800 X 600 window resolution.  Below is what this window resolution would look like with the Maintain Resource window open.

800 X 600 Resolution

800 X 600 Resolution

Pictured below is the same window but with 1024 X 768 resolution.

We have setup many new computers and installed many upgrades to the computers operating system.  I can not remember any installation that did not make the default resolution at least 1024 X 768.  Because most users just accept the installation default or do not know that the resolution can be changed or how to change it, they just live with it.

The default font used in Easy Church Membership is MS San Serif and the default point size is 8.  To change the font or size of for the program first click File on the main menu bar.  Then click Setup > Change Font Settings.

Using the Select Font window you can select any font and point size that is available.  Because a window is pure graphics the spacing of each letter is not the same for all font selections.  For example:

This is Tahoma.

This is Arial.

This is MS San Serif.

This is Times New Roman.

We recommend you keep the default font type but change the point size.  It is very important that the size selected is not to large.  There is no correlation to point sizes.  For example our default is 8 point.  Selecting 16 is not twice as big, it is much bigger.  So much bigger that the windows will overflow the monitors screen making it impossible to use the program.

The window below shows Tahoma with a point size of 10.

Below is the same font but using 12 instead of 10.  You can see that parts of the screen are not visible and would be impossible to use.

1027 X 768 Tahoma 12 point

1027 X 768 Tahoma 12 point

This is a feature that can be very useful but must be used with care.  If the change your selection does not display correctly you will have to change either the font or the size until you find the combination that allows you to work effectively.  Once you have decided what font and point size you want to use the program will save your selection to use in the future.
