Dialog boxes are windows opened because:
| • | You made a selection that requires user intervention, or |
| • | The running application requires more information, or |
| • | The application needs to communicate a message to you. |
Message requiring the user to respond
This information could be to warn you of a potential problem or to tell you a mistake has been made. When you call your support person about a problem you have to tell that person exactly what the error message reads. There can be no hope of obtaining useful help without having the correct information.
Error message
It is also extremely important you know what you were attempting to do at the time the error was generated. Unless the information is available there is no way your support person can make an informed decision and help you.
Information message
The above message is telling the user that the resource being checked in is over due and a fine of .01 is due.
