Subject > Search
Search for a subject by typing all or part of the word you want to use as the criteria. When the window is opened the focus should be on the Description list box. You will see the red border around the box. If the border is not around the Description list box click any place with in the box to set the focus.
![]() Subject search default view
Searching for a subject acts differently than searching for an subject for example. When searching for an subject you type the first few letters of the subjects last name. This is because it is expected that the last name is known and the sort order is by last name.
When searching for a subject MLM will search the entire subject field for a match. Using our sample database for our example we type "the". The first record with "the" will be high lighted.
![]() The first subject with "the" is highlighted
Add an "o" to display "theo" and you will see THEOLOGY, CHRISTIAN is now high lighted.
![]() Every subject with "THEO" anywhere in the description will be displayed
But you also see LOVE (THEOLOGY) displayed in the Description list box also. This is because the MLM subject search will display any record that has a match any place within the Description.
Once the subject is found in the left column all the resources in the library collection will be listed in the right list box. You may click any of the titles then click the View button to see the details including the Due Date if the book is checked out. Click the Print button to print a list of all the titles for the selected subject.
This information can be used in other ways. For example the subject will give the searcher another way to see what book may be in the collection that they might be interest in reading.
