Sometimes the search does not start in the right place. That may be the problem. Using MS Word as an example do the following: Start the word processor search for MS Word. If winword.exe is not found look at the path that was used for the search. It is at the top right of the window. If path is anything but C:\ that is the problem. You can either type the search path, C:\, or you can click on the disk drive icon to the right of the path field. As soon as you make the change the search will run again. (Do not change the contents of the query.)
Enter the password from the label on the CD envelope exactly as it appears. Case does not matter but the spaces do. It must be entered exactly as it is printed. Press the TAB key to move from the entry field. The button Register Later will change to Please Register. Click on the Please Register button. A normal exit from the program will retain the information and you will not see that window again.
On the top menu click on the Help selection. You will see in the list Register your Product. Click on it and you will see a window explaining the ways to register the Pastor's Study. If you have an Internet connection just click on the link rclsoftware.com. The program will dial your default connection or if you are already connected it will bring up the registration page on our web site.
Not only can you make a suggestion but we can only make our programs better if you do. I do not claim to know everything there is to know about anything. For instance, The Pastor's Study would not be as useful as it is if we did not receive feedback from our patrons. Go to our support page and either email us or give us a call. We love to hear from our patrons.
There is no way any password is absolutely secure, with my program or any other. Anyone who is determined, experienced enough and persistent enough will eventually figure it out. The password for the protected areas in The Pastor's Study was designed to keep out the nosy person who has access to the program. For example my pastor's assistant has access to the program. But she does not have the password so she can not open the password protected areas. However there are a number of things that can be done to protect access to the program using your computers operating system. First require a password to log on to the computer. If the program is on your network you can limit who has access to the shared folder. Do not use a password for any area, log on or program, that is easy for someone to guess. For instance one of your children's names, or a favorite pet. You get the idea.
